We are a privately owned service, providing an alternate link between the river and mainland for residents and ratepayers of Bar Point & Milsons Passage.
Initially intended as a ‘school run’, the service is open to all ages, and school children get priority seating, and can book a discounted Term Pass.
Residents and ratepayers of Bar Point & Milsons Passage are welcome to join the run by booking one of the spare seats on a regular or casual basis. To get your ‘locals only’ booking code email: bookings@theriverbus.com.au
The River Bus is only for Residents and Ratepayers – not for guests of holiday houses / airbnbs. If you are coming for a holiday, please phone Hawkesbury River Water Taxi on 0422 300 100 to book a transfer.
TIMETABLE
The service runs 3 days a week, year round (except school & public holidays).
Our timetable is subject to change based on customer demand and availability of crew. Any changes will be published on the booking page. As a general guide, we typically adhere to the below schedule.
MONDAY & WEDNESDAY & FRIDAY – River to Mainland:
7.30am – Bar Point Public Wharf (pick up only)
7.35am – Milsons Passage Public Wharf (pick up or drop off)
7.45am – Kangaroo Point Public Wharf (drop off only)
*** Note: The 592 Bus to Hawkesbury River Train Station (via Brooklyn PublicSchool) departs at 8.27am from the steps of Estuary Restaurant, Kangaroo Point. ***
MONDAY & WEDNESDAY – Mainland to River:
*** Note: The 592 Bus from Hawkesbury River Train Station departs at 3.15pm, stopping at Brooklyn Public School at 3.17pm, then arrives to Kangaroo Point, near Estuary Restaurant at 3.25pm ***
3.30pm – Kangaroo Point Public Wharf (pick up only)
3.45pm – Milsons Passage Public Wharf (pick up / drop off)
3.50pm – Bar Point Public Wharf (drop off only)
FRIDAY ONLY – Mainland to River:
6.15pm – Kangaroo Point Public Wharf (pick up only)
6.25pm – Milsons Passage Public Wharf (pick up / drop off)
6.35pm – Bar Point Public Wharf (drop off only)
FARES – One Way
Children (0-4yrs) $0 – MUST be accompanied by fare paying adult
Children (Primary) $7.50 – discounted to $5 per trip with a Term Pass
Adult / Seniors / High School Students $15
TERMS & CONDITIONS
By booking on our service you agree to…
- only book a ticket if you are a resident or ratepayer of Bar Point & Milsons Passage
- only book a ticket as a friend or family member of a resident or ratepayer provided that you are travelling with or visiting the local resident / ratepayer (eg. not using their house while they are absent)
- not bring any household or commercial garbage on the vessel
- not bring any gas bottles, fuel or other dangerous goods on the vessel
- not bring any bulky freight / furniture
- only bring groceries / supermarket shopping aboard, if you are able to carry them by yourself in one load
- children 12 yrs & under must wear a properly fitted and age appropriate lifejacket whenever on the back deck, or as instructed by the Crew
- children under 5 years must be accompanied and adequately supervised by a parent or guardian at all times
- children 5+ are permitted to travel on their own at parent’s risk
- dogs, cats and other pets are not permitted on board
- when arriving to a wharf, please remain seated until the crew advise it is safe for you to stand up / disembark
- be courteous and respectful to all crew members and passengers at all times. Management reserves the right to refuse entry &/or travel at their discretion, to any person/s who they deem is acting in a discourteous, disrespectful, inappropriate or unsafe manner.
CANCELLATION POLICY
All bookings are non-refundable (unless the service is cancelled by the operator). Customers who provide at least 48 hours notice of cancellation, are able to transfer their booking to a future date – subject to availability.
No-shows will be charged the full price.
There are no refunds or credits for School term subscriptions
